Your Experience at HULC
The team at HULC are dedicated to providing evidence based treatments to ensure you return to doing what you love after your injury or condition.
Book your appointment
Your journey with the Hand and Upper limb Centre begins when you make an appointment with one of our friendly administration team members or by booking online at a location and time that is convenient to you.
What to bring
Please remember to bring any referrals, relevant scans, or correspondence from your treating health professionals.
Additionally, please wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the limb being treated by your therapist.
If you have been prescribed splints or other equipment in the past, please remember to bring them to your appointment.
On arrival
Upon arriving at our clinics, you will receive a warm welcome from our highly experienced staff, skilled in assisting patients experiencing pain or loss of function.
Our administrative team will ensure all your pre-appointment forms are completed and that all necessary documents are available for your treating therapist.
Your consultation
Your therapist will conduct a personalised and comprehensive one-on-one assessment of your condition or injury.
An evidence based treatment program will be specifically tailored to suit your injury and personal circumstances. A home program may be provided for you to complete and may be modified in subsequent appointments.
Depending on your needs, you may require either a custom-made thermoplastic or prefabricated orthoses to protect or immobilise your upper limb. A custom-made thermoplastic orthosis can be made during your appointment in 10-30 minutes.
Treatment aims to help you return to doing what you love as quickly as possible!
After your appointment
Please ensure you complete your prescribed home program. If you experience increased pain while completing any exercises, please stop them immediately and get in touch with your therapist.
If your prescribed thermoplastic splint is not fitting correctly and/or causing discomfort (for example, due to a reduction in swelling), please contact your therapist promptly to arrange for adjustments. It’s important not to attempt to adjust the splint yourself.
