Scar management

Scarring is a natural part of the healing process after an injury or surgery.

Scars form when fibrous tissue (collagen) replaces normal tissue. Sometimes, the body may overproduce collagen, causing the scar to grow excessively or adhere to internal structures.

The goal of scar treatment is to ensure smooth gliding of internal structures to maintain range of motion in the affected joints and to improve the scar’s aesthetic appearance.

All HULC therapists are skilled in scar management.

Treatment techniques may include scar massage, moisturising, desensitisation, compression, and the use of silicone products.
