Taya graduated from Curtin University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy.
After completing student placements at Princess Margaret Hospital and HULC, Taya travelled to India as part of the Equal Health Initiative.
In 2014 Taya returned to Perth and joined the HULC team, first in an administrative role and then as an Occupational Therapist. Taya has a keen interest in research. In 2014 she coordinated a double blinded randomized control trial (which was part of an Australian-wide study) to evaluate the efficacy of collagenase treatment for frozen shoulder. Taya has contributed to research presented at the 2015 Western Australian Society of Hand Surgeon’s annual scientific meeting and is also part of HULC’s Dupuytren’s Contracture team involved in clinical based research.
Taya is actively involved in the hand therapy community and regularly attends state and national meetings of the Australian Hand Therapy Association (AHTA). In 2015 Taya took over as Facilitator and Treasurer of the WA Occupational Therapy Association – Hands Interest Group. Taya is an Accredited Hand Therapist (as awarded by the Australian Hand Therapy Association).
