Jeff Ecker (Hand and wrist surgeon)

Jeff Ecker is a hand and wrist surgeon who trained in orthopaedics, plastics and microsurgery in Perth and Oxford University, in the United Kingdom, Duke University in North Carolina and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, USA.

In the past 12 months he has been an invited speaker at the European Hand Surgery Society, the American Hand Surgery Society, the Asia Pacific Wrist Meeting, and the Chinese Hand Surgery Meeting. He has been a guest speaker and teacher at the Singapore Hand Society Meeting, the Hong Kong International Wrist Arthroscopy course, and guest professor at the Queensland Hand Surgery Society Meeting. Mr Ecker is on the board of multiple international and national hand and wrist societies. He is on the editorial board of The Bone & Joint Journal.

Mr Ecker specialises in the management of hand and wrist problems and has developed new techniques in arthroscopic wrist surgery, endoscopic carpal tunnel release, microsurgical reconstruction of the hand and Dupuytren’s contractures. He is the director of the Hand + Upper Limb Centre (HULC), and is available for elective and emergency consultation seven days a week when in Perth. If he is not in Perth, his colleagues are available for emergency patients.

Rob Nairn (Radiologist)

Rob graduated with honours from the University of Western Australia in 2002. He entered the Western Australian Radiology training programme in 2006 and in 2010 he completed his radiological studies. He then commenced a year long musculoskeletal fellowship training position at The Ottawa Hospital/University of Ottawa, Canada. He completed his fellowship training in July 2011 and returned to Western Australia joining Perth Radiological Clinic in August 2011. He became a Partner in 2015.

Laura Cowling (HULC Occupational Therapist)

Laura started her career in health after graduating in 2008 from Hannibal La-Grange College in Missouri, USA, with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree. Upon returning to Australia, Laura worked as a high-school Counsellor, before attending Curtin University where she completed a Masters of Occupational Therapy degree in 2012. Laura joined HULC as an Occupational Therapist in 2013. Laura regularly presents at state hand therapy interest group meetings, run though the Occupational Therapy Association of WA. Laura also presents to local hospitals on hand injuries, treatment and best practice. Laura is an Associate Member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association and is working towards her full membership.
